2021.05.07 06:42 GabefromVault76 I decided to nuke my camp because believe it or not, sometimes it easier than to manually store and replace everything.

A lot of my camp items were partially damaged and FOR THE LOVE OF MOTHMAN, I find it so annoying to find a bunch of partially damaged items and having to store and place something back down. I actually find that more annoying than the item getting fully destroyed.
Those canopy’s I bought from atomic shop are probably the hardest to get two of them perfectly lined up without any gaps or being off etc. And to make it worse you can’t place it back down WITHOUT REMOVING everything that was underneath it first.
I literally said **** it and launched a nuke on whitesprings (where I live).
Don’t worry I only put back the really expensive to repair items in storage before I began.
Now I am happy because my camp is fully repaired and now I don’t have to see a health bar everywhere I look.
Was it worth it? Yes because everyone could collect flux at the cost of my camp getting absolutely DEMOLISHED 🤣🤣
Was it expensive? Not really, just a bunch of common scrap items.
P.S to the level 66 who repaired my turrets without being asked, thanks your an OG.

2021.05.07 06:42 itsallalittleblurry Run

Animals can see things we sometimes don’t.
There was the day Gramp’s old horse died - the only one he had at that time, and the last one he would ever have.
He was cropping grass peacefully at the side of the road. Then he looked up of a sudden, stared unmoving for a moment down the road, at nothing there that anyone saw.
Then spun on his rear hooves, and plunged into a gallop from a standing start. He took several long strides, then leapt straight up into the air with an ear-splitting shriek. Horses can scream. Any animal can, the same as people.
And crashed down on his side into the water if the creek, dead before he gut the ground. His heart had burst.
But what did he see? What was he running from? I’ve always thought that he had seen what was coming for him. Animals can sometimes sense when they’re about to die, the same as people. I’ve seen it more than once. And they sometimes run. But they never get far.
I would sleep on the couch in the living room when the Grandchildren were visiting. They all like to sleep with Momma, lol, and there is only so much room in her big bed. They’re in there with her now, lol, five out of the six, watching a scary movie. They’re having a good time. So is She.
A couple of times, I awoke in the night to find Bud’s brindle Pit standing quietly staring, unblinking, into the dark corner by the fireplace. Unmoving, silent, as was his way. He rarely ever barked.
I knew, those times, what and who he was seeing, though there was nothing and no one there that I could see. I had seen him a couple or three times myself, and I knew who and what he was, what he looked like: a dark-visaged man of medium height and swarthy skin. Dark hair. Skim without being skinny. Dressed in a brown suit of outdated cut. Hands folded in front of him at his waist. Staring silently back at me with no expression on his face. Unblinking and patient. As if letting me know that he had all the time in the world, that the time would come when it would come, and he’d be waiting. So I knew who he was. But I never had a sense of threat. Just the opposite, in fact. A sense of coming peace, of the way things must be, as they had always been. A time when the voices would go silent, and I could rest.
I noticed each time that The Prince had arisen and silently placed himself between me where I had lain asleep, and what and and who he saw standing there, facing away from me and toward that dark corner. Patient and silent, as I had seen him do many times as he watched over the Grandchildren at play, when he sensed a possible threat. Unmovable and unafraid, waiting and ready for whatever came. Protecting, as he had always done.
So I knew he had seen him, too. I wasn’t losing my mind, after all. Each time I had closed my eyes and gone back to sleep.
So animals sometimes see or sense things that we sometimes don’t. And they sometimes know when they’re about to die. And they sometimes run from what they see coming, the same as people. But they never make it far.
She had tried to cross the four lanes of freeway on foot at night. It wasn’t the first time we’d been called to that stretch for something similar. People would misjudge the speed of approaching vehicles, I guess, and think that they had more time than they really did.
But this time was a little different.
He hadn’t seen her in time, as she darted across the lanes in the light of the roadside stanchions. No time to slow or stop.
She had come to rest at the side of the road further down, where the impact had flung her.
Then, unexplicably, she had leapt to her feet,............and she had run. Long, full, graceful strides. A full-out sprint that would have done an Olympic athlete proud. Arms held out at her sides, long, dark hair flowing behind her in the wind of her passage. Black tennis shoes. Denim jeans and jacket over a black blouse with small red flowers all over it. Pretty clothes for a pretty girl.
It had been a thing of oddly transcendent beauty, he would later recall - that silent, graceful, headlong flight. At an angle down into and across the shallow, grassy bowl of the wide median strip. Across four empty lanes on the other side, disappearing into the darkness beyond the lights.
Some thought, perhaps, that there still might be a chance. Perhaps she somehow wasn’t hurt all that bad. I knew better. I’d seen it before. Sometimes they know what approaches........and sometimes they run. But they never make it far.
We ran after her immediately in the direction that he indicated she had gone. Carrying with us the medical equipment that I was sure she wouldn’t need, trying not to let it slow us down.
Across the median and the still-empty four lanes of highway, and into the darkness beyond the lights.
We found her halfway down the steep, grassy bank of the canal on the other side, where she had finally come to rest.
A pretty girl, slender and lovely. Seventeen years old.
That one bothered us more than most for some reason, and still lingers in my mind.
Maybe it was that final headlong flight. Maybe she Had known what was coming for her, and coming quickly. Maybe she hadn’t wanted to go.
She’d made it a hundred and fifty yards.

2021.05.07 06:42 EnnuiandsWeltschmerz What do you think about this regarding the properties of Tea in relation to coffee?

"Tea is in my opinion a phantasticum, coffee an energeticum—tea therefore possesses a disproportionately higher artistic rank. I notice that coffee disrupts the delicate lattice of light and shadows, the fruitful doubts that emerge during the writing of a sentence. One exceeds his inhibitions. With tea, on the other hand, the thoughts climb genuinely upward.“ Jünger

I recently bought a cockatiel and I had posted about her nails and how they were black. I took her to the vet and they told me that she was fine and that nothing was wrong with her. I recently looked at them and one of them seems to not look normal. I’m thinking of taking her to another vet just to make sure. She seems fine but it does concern me.

2021.05.07 06:42 pinkfuzzymittens Decongestants when fighting a cold...?

So I completely understand the necessity of fever reducers if a fever is running dangerously hot, or when you're fighting something for so long that your body just needs a break. However, I'm completely clueless about nasal decongestants, especially ones that dry out your nasal passages. I suppose it's unreasonable to assume everyone drinks adequate amounts of water and blows their nose instead of snorting it in....but isn't the mucus in your nose a primary layer of protection against airborne particles/allergens/bacteria/viruses? Wouldn't drying it out just make it worse?
