2021.09.28 02:18 LevitatingHyperGod Anybody know when I should arrive at the venue for the meet and greet?

Hey all, I never got any information about the meet and greet for the Boston show on Wednesday. I tried calling the venue earlier today and they didn’t give me a response unfortunately. I plan on getting there early in case it’s before the show, but as an extra precaution, I figured I’d ask if anybody knows when the meet and greet is taking place. Thanks!

2021.09.28 02:18 GamerPony116 Fallout Equestria Girls FANFIC

So Recently i was talking to a friend and they mention how they and another friend are writing stories that is in the same book. So this means one writes a chapter the other replies with a chapter. They go back and forth and try to get to the end game first with each cutting them off. I was thinking I am willing to write a story that is in the Equestria girls universe, BUT this story will be taking placed in a world where the Lands of Human world Equestria is at war with the zebras. This would lead into the same events of a similar fallout universe and the bombs will fall killing many but a few living in the wastelands. The main vault both characters are started in are the vault 19. They would both start at the vault and be sent out to find the elements of harmony, but the second player can choose what they like. The one thing i would like for the second writer to do is follow a more brotherhood of steel faction as they head over to the other side of the nation. We can discuss more in DMs so if you want to try this little sport and are willing for it to be on FIMFICTION then you can text me and we will talk. See you soon wastelander…

2021.09.28 02:18 ShultzHS Viren & Aaravos theory: about certain resurrection

Hi everyone! Not sure how original this is – the first part certainly has been talked about, but I don’t think I’ve seen this take on Viren’s resurrection before, so I'd really like to discuss it. Also, sorry in advance for any mistakes – English isn't my native language.
Part 1: Viren/Aaravos connection and what it entails
First, I’d like to talk about the ritual Aaravos starts in s2e4 and finishes in s2e7, the one resulting in creation of the little bug pal. Its first and the most obvious purpose is to allow Aaravos to communicate with Viren, but I’d argue there's also the second one, even more important in the long run: to create the magical bond between them.
What gives it away is, of course, the ritual requiring Viren’s blood. In our world’s myths and religions, blood was often considered something sacred, either equal or linked to the person’s life essence; people used to believe tasting someone’s blood or using it in a ritual can give you power over them. These beliefs translated to literature, movies etc. – fantasy in particular. And we can assume it’s relevant for the TDP world as well, judging from Viren’s actions in s2. In s2e4 we see Viren drinking the potion, created by following Aaravos' instructions, without much hesitation. Even considering Aaravos drank it first, drinking something offered by a possible enemy (Viren has probably guessed Aaravos was an elf) is still incredibly risky. And right after doing that he balks at cutting his hand, asking "why should I trust you?". This should give us a clue about how dangerous it is, because who would know about the dangers of dark magic better than an experienced dark mage? Viren knows it's even more risky than drinking what can be poison, and that is why he hesitates for so long. Nevertheless, in the end he becomes desperate enough to do it anyway – with certain consequences.
The primary example of Aaravos using this connection is him channeling his magic through Viren in s2e9 and s3e9. What we’ve seen so far isn’t enough to make solid conclusions about how this works; probably, Aaravos establishes some kind of telepathic bond, letting Viren know what he’s going to cast next and act according to that (we see something similar when Soren tries to kill the caterpillar and Viren stops him, even though he couldn’t see Soren raising his hand). But there’s also at least one moment suggesting Aaravos is able to control Viren’s body directly. Here, Rayla charges at Viren, Aaravos is the one who sees her, and they do the same hand gesture together at the same time. The moments of full or partial possession are indicated by Viren’s eyes turning blue, as opposed to purple when he’s simply using dark magic.
You can ask why does this indicate some special connection, considering we have seen Aaravos possessing the Sunfire elf guard in similar way in s3e7. The thing is, in order to control them Aaravos does something very specific: the caterpillar bites them, getting access to their blood as well. And in case of Viren it’s not necessary, given that his blood has been used to create the bug pal.
In the end of this section, I was meaning to write about possible implications of this bond for Viren’s future; but it was getting frustratingly long and littered with all kinds of blue curtains analysis, so I dropped it (if anyone is interested, I may post it separately in a few days). Now, I’ll just talk about how it may be connected to the s3 ending.
Part 2: Viren’s resurrection and Rayla’s vision in "Through the Moon"
In one of the AMAs with the show creators, they’ve been asked why hadn’t Claudia resurrected Harrow in the first season the way she resurrected Viren later. Here’s their answer:

There's some information that you will learn in s4 that will make this clearer, but I will say that maybe Claudia didn't know how to do it yet or have everything the would need...
At first it just confirmed my suspicion that Claudia must have been helped by Aaravos. Her behaviour after Viren wakes up certainly fits – she calls Aaravos "creepy bug pal", which may imply she's seen him doing dark magic (mind you, Claudia doesn't look like someone easily creeped out). I still think it's the case, but also that there's more to it... so, let's talk about souls.
We know that in TDP souls do exist, and after death they go to someplace beyond the world of living (if they're not stuck inbetween, but I'll get to that later). It's pretty common for high fantasy, and it often implies certain rules concerning resurrection. Usually, if the soul has already left the body, "true" resurrection can be done only by someone channeling the higher power, like paladin or priest – while dark magic either just raises the soulless corpse as a zombie, or drags the soul back in some unnatural and painful way. Sure, Aaravos might have done just that, being an immensely powerful dark mage. But what I suggest is that bringing a soul back from beyond isn't possible in TDP at all; Viren could be resurrected only because he was never truly dead.
My proof is this page from "Through the Moon". We know that at some point Viren's soul was stuck in the realm between life and death, in the cocoon similar to Aaravos' one – and this can be perfectly explained by their connection. Viren can't truly die, because his soul is magically bound to Aaravos (and, as a result, to the world of living) by their "pact". And I’m using this word deliberately, because if I’m correct, Viren literally gave his soul to the devil (fallen star-touched elf known as Midnight Star, etc, etc. – writers laid it really thick). In that case, him being in the cocoon makes sense both literally and metaphorically: Viren is trapped by Aaravos' magic, but also trapped by his manipulation, and the latter isn't any less dangerous than the former. Another possible confirmation is his eye colour here, which may allude to Aaravos controlling him – same as his eye glow changing from purple to blue in s3e9.
To sum up, I assume that Aaravos helped Claudia with the actual resurrection (as it's him who Viren's soul is bound to). But to do this, she had to fix Viren’s body first – and this was the hardest part, requiring human sacrifice and turning her hair white. Considering the fall height, she had to essentially create a new body for him. This explains why Viren seems to be physically uncorrupted after waking up. Nevertheless, his bond with Aaravos should be still present and is very likely to become an issue for Viren in the following seasons, as he and Aaravos are clearly set up for a conflict.
TLDR: when Viren used his blood in the mirror ritual, it allowed Aaravos to create a magical connection between them; this connection was exactly what made Viren's resurrection possible.

2021.09.28 02:18 WatercressDouble7581 Corps Team questions and conflict of interest

Hey, I've just found the SCA and I'm really interested in doing the corps team, especially the Alaska corps team with the work offered, but I don't have much recent outdoors experience and I kind of have a dilemma with my current situation. I am a 19 year old sophomore Aerospace Engineering student and I know that I still want to do engineering as a career which means that getting a summer engineering internship after sophomore year is kind of a big deal. If I potentially got accepted to an engineering internship for a company that I am really interested in and also get offered a position on a corps team, would rejecting the corps team offer effectively blacklist me for future offers from the SCA?
I am very passionate about the environment and would love to do conservation work with the SCA through the corps teams especially in harsh conditions, but this conflict of interest seems like it would really suck if I had to reject an offer to not potentially harm my future career. Do the SCA corps teams usually hire people when they're younger or would there possibly be a good chance in a few years when I wouldn't potentially be risking missing out on an engineering internship in an important first step of my professional experience.
And for my outdoors experience, I've mostly just used examples from when I was younger and lived in a rural area for a few years but I don't have any certifications or things like that. Is there any kind of conservation or restoration type work in the Houston area that I could do just over winter breaks to help get some more experience? Thanks for any help.
