MVS intellisense warning says "the size is x, but 2x may be read"

2022.01.29 03:32 Sercrariat MVS intellisense warning says "the size is x, but 2x may be read"

Hi guys, I was just finishing my octree, for some specific reasons I had to pass a ** for one of my classes that works as an output buffer for OpenGL, when i run the code everything works well, I can see the cubes that I am trying to render by using the octree, however, Visual Studio gave me this warning, i have tried the writing the same line in three different ways, two of them give me the warning and the third one doesnt, i thought they meant the same thing, at least in this situation
This is the function, as you can see it deals with the creation of the buffers in the heap, and setting the values

void Octree::CopyBuffer(Shape2d::QuadContainter** destination, unsigned int** indices) {

\*destination = new Shape2d::QuadContainter\[GetWorldQuadsCount()\]; //way1, gives warning //for (unsigned int voxel = 0; voxel < m\_voxelsPtr.size(); voxel++) { // for (uint8\_t quad = 0; quad < 6; quad++) { // //here check if the element quad of the pointer array is nullptr
//this way doesnt work in both loops
// (\*destination)\[quad\] = (\*(m\_voxelsPtr\[voxel\])).GetQuad()\[quad\]; // } //}
//way2 ,
 for (auto& element : m\_voxelsPtr) { for (uint8\_t quad = 0; quad < 6; quad++) {
//way2, gives warning
//destination[0][quad] = element->GetQuad()[quad];
//way3 no warning
*((*destination)+quad) = element->GetQuad()[quad];
 } } \*indices = new unsigned int\[6 \* GetWorldQuadsCount()\]; Shape2d::SetQuadIndexBuffer(\*indices, GetWorldQuadsCount());
}
By the way I am copying the data from a vector of Cube pointers. As you can see the CubeContainer parameter is a ** because I am passing the address of a CubeContainer* to the function, so, if I dereference the ** once ,I should get the *, and if I then use the [number], it should let me move along the elements that I am adding, in order words , the (*buffer)[number] should be equals to *((*buffer)+number),no?,i also tried buffer[0][number], because , although this is not an array of pointers, i suppose thats just getting the first element, which would be the only pointer we have. in any case the only way that works without giving me warnings is this *((*destination)+quad) , should i pay attention to the warning ?
Thank you for your time :)

2022.01.29 03:32 KirbyStarWarrior666 Total Drama Opinion Guessing Game

I got bored, so I decided to make this. I feel like a decent amount of people are aware that I have a good deal of unpopular Total Drama opinions (even made a whole slideshow of them, lol). So I figured, why not make a game out of it.
Basically, I'll be listing five opinions I have about Total Drama, some unpopular, some just regular opinions. You guys will guess which opinion I listed is the one I don't actually believe in. I'll announce what the fake opinion sometime around Saturday afternoon.
#1: All-Stars Heather is the second best Heather (best being World Tour)
#2: Action Lindsay is the worst Lindsay
#3: Sundae Muddy Sundae was one of All-Stars' better episodes
#4: As a villain: Sugar > Action Courtney
#5: Revenge of the Island > World Tour

Hi. I just remembered a game, but can’t find the name of it anywhere. The general basis of it is that you play as a pokemon and run around doing quests and stuff. I also vaguely remember it having a beach where you play hide n seek? I’m not sure. Any idea what I’m talking about?

2022.01.29 03:32 michaeljhuman2 Can't wrap my head around some conveyer math

Scenario I want to understand, is as follows...
60 unit / minute belt
Carrying 18 heat sinks / min ( supplied from truck stop, so burst type behavior)
Belt into splittecombiner array, to divide supply with 17:1 ratio. Design of array is to split the feed, then split one of the three lines again. And then a final 1 to 2 split. So that one line is 1/18th of the input, and remaining lines merger such that the merged line is 17/18th of the input. Putting it another way, slow line is then one per minute, fast line is 17 per minute.
17 per minute of heat sinks goes to a manufactury, consuming 14 per min
1 per minute of heat sinks, goes to a truck stop for delivery to a nuclear works
Storage after truck stop, before array.
Ok, so the question is...will I ever accumulate heat sinks in storage. I was monitoring it today, and it seemed to consume all I sent it, and the line was not backing up into the storage.
One way of looking at it, is that I supply 18 HS's per minute, and consume 15 per minute, I should eventually start backing up on the belt. Gaining 3 HS's per minute in the system.
But I also thought, maybe it will never accumulate HS's in my storage. Here's why. If manufactury line gets full, the line will back up. Eventually to my array. And when the fast line stalls, the slow line will become an expressway. It's only running at a 1 to 17 ratio, when the fast line is moving at speed. When the fast line stalls, then my splitters in my array will choose the unblocked path.
Long story short, my array isn't optimal, as I would prefer it didn't behave like an open line, when the fast line stalls. But I can't think of a fix for that.
I should note that if I really wanted to store heat sinks, I could simply split off a line, and not inline it. I was just trying to understand how the excess is working, in conjunction with my array design.

2022.01.29 03:32 nrgins Strange Situation

I have a strange situation, hopefully someone can shed some light on.

I just got a T-Mobile Home Internet setup, with a modem/router "Gateway", which I have in my living room, next to my computer there.

I have another computer in my bedroom, but the wifi signal there isn't as good.

So I connected the gateway to a router using a cable, and positioned the router in the living room so that it's better positioned to send signals into the bedroom.

(Router is not set up as an access point, just as router, getting Internet signal from the gateway through the network cable. I tried setting it up as an access point, and it was a mess. Was horribly slow, for some reason.)

So, right now, I have two active wifi signals -- one from the gateway, and one from the router. And I've been testing both with the Ookla Speed Test app for Windows on my living room computer.

The speeds are pretty similar. Connecting to the router will usually be slower. But they're both in the same ballpark. No big deal.

However, every once in a while, I'll test the speed on my living room computer while connected to the router, and it'll be very slow. Like 5Mbps slow! I'll retest and it'll be the same.

Then I'll switch to have the computer connect directly to the Gateway and the speed will be much faster. Retest, it's the same.

Then I'll switch back to the router, and it'll be fast again!

This happened several times. The router will be slow; I'll switch to the gateway; and then I'll switch back to the router and it'll be fast again.

One could say it's just a coincidence. That the router connection was just experiencing temporary slowness and it would have cleared up anyway. But this happened several times. And you'd think that it would still be slow when connecting to the gateway.

Any ideas about why switching to the gateway might make the router speed fast again?

2022.01.29 03:32 eluera2 Coffee tasting and “story telling”

Hey everyone! So I have the opportunity to interview to be a shift at my store. And my SM said that she wants me to improve on my coffee tasting skills and story telling ability. When I became a trainer, I pretty much focused only on flavor comparability and described how the items complemented each other but I didn’t have a story attached to it. She told me that I should think back to my childhood for anything I’d like to share but I genuinely cannot think of any combination of pastry/drink that was very memorable in my life. I was wondering if anyone who had done their coffee tasting had any inspiration for me in regards to item combinations or how their combo relates to them?
